Overview
Effective solution to meet the increasing demands of simultaneous medical image sharing and recording
Sony’s VMI-40MD Image Multiplexer is intended to provide a single integrated image from multiple video sources in the operating room. The VMI-40MD enables medical experts to view up to four images, such as those from surgical cameras, diagnostic information, and other medical images, simultaneously on a single display screen. This versatile image multiplexer supports a variety of inputs and outputs for flexible operation. Furthermore, this unit can be connected to a digital video recorder to record or capture video and vital data simultaneously for documentation**.
** For recording, the VMI-40MD requires a video recorder such as Sony’s medical-grade HVO-3000MT 3D HD Video Recorder or HVO-1000MD HD Video Recorder.

Features
Variety of image-multiplex patterns
The VMI-40MD combines multiple video images into one. It enables medical experts to view multiple images simultaneously on a single display screen.
Wide range of inputs and outputs
The VMI-40MD accepts a variety of input signals including those from the commonly used interfaces: SD/HD-SDI, DVI-D, HDMI, analogue RGB, and composite. This allows connection to a full range of medical equipment supporting video output. The multiplexed image can be output in HD-SDI, composite, HDMI, analogue RGB, analogue component, and other outputs. Thanks to two RGB output connectors, one output (RGB 2) can be used to display one of four video sources on a large screen, in addition to a multiplexed image. The video source for RGB 2 output can be switched easily and independently.
Still-image capture
By connecting external USB memory, the VMI-40MD can capture and store multiplexed video still images for documentation purposes.
Compact and easy to use
Thanks to its compact, space-saving design, the unit can be installed even in space-restricted locations. Also, its intuitive and simple user interface makes it easy for medical experts to use, even in busy operating rooms.
