Sony Introduces New 27-inch 4K Surgical Monitor
LMD-X2705MD offers impressive 4K HDR picture quality plus intuitive operation and versatile integration
Sony has introduced a new 27-inch 4K HDR surgical monitor that offers exceptional picture quality plus intuitive operation and flexible integration within today’s clinical environments.
The LMD-X2705MD displays bright, high quality 2D colour images with true 4K UHD resolution from endoscopic/laparoscopic cameras and other compatible medical imaging systems. The monitor can also display HDR (High Dynamic Range) images when connected to an HLG (Hybrid Log-Gamma) input signal from a camera, accurately reproducing a wide colour palette and extended range of brightness levels without clipping bright highlights or losing shadow details. Lower resolution input signals are automatically upscaled to 4K with four times the pixel count of Full HD, giving surgical teams an optimal view of HD or Standard Definition sources.
Impressive picture quality is complemented by simple, logical operation that allows OR teams to focus on the task at hand. Fuss-free operation is realised by the monitor’s intuitive control panel and LED navigation, allowing easy operation, even in dark environments.
The LMD-X2705MD offers a choice of DP, HDMI and DVI input signal options alongside 3G/HD/SD-SDI connectivity. If signals from one input port are accidentally interrupted, the monitor’s input switches automatically to the second port as a fail-safe measure.
For greater flexibility in surgical applications there’s a convenient choice of display modes including Mirror Image, Side-by-Side, Picture-in-Picture and Picture-out-Picture that are instantly available via push-button selection.
“4K video resolution is becoming increasingly prevalent in the OR and hospital consulting rooms, with a widening choice of image acquisition and recording solutions on the market,” said Nigel Monisse, Business Head – Medical Imaging Solutions, Sony Professional Solutions MEA. “The LMD-X2705MD is a compelling choice for any hospital that’s already introducing an end-to-end 4K surgical imaging workflow – or thinking about making the transition to greater definition, colour and contrast very soon. Sony is committed to provide not only the superb technology, but also services and support of a business partner to help our customers make the move to a high quality and simplified workflow.”
The compact, ergonomic design of the LMD-X2705MD is ideal for integration in modern clinical environments, while integration is simplified with a choice of AC or DC powering options and neat cable management. The ergonomic, easy-to-hold design allows simple adjustment of monitor position by hand. IPX5 rating resists accidental water and liquid splashes, while hygiene is simplified by the 27-inch panel’s edge-to-edge flush design.
