Sony introduces XVS-9000, a flagship live production switcher enhancing the XVS series offering
Expansion of the XVS Series will also bring new capabilities of IP and 12G-SDI in 4K.
Sony announced its new live production switcher, the XVS-9000, designed to address the demands of advanced 4K and HD productions in the rise of High Dynamic Range (HDR) content. The XVS-9000 offers up to 80 inputs and 40 outputs in 4K and up to 160 inputs and 80 outputs in HD* adopting the latest interfaces for both IP (SMPTE ST 2110) and 12G-SDI in 4K as well as hybrid system of both, for large sporting and entertainment events.
*The number of I/O will differ according to the interface.
Sony continues to deliver efficient and flexible workflows through its IP live production system and has reinforced IP Live interoperability to support two key industry standards, SMPTE ST 2110 media transport over IP and AMWA NMOS Device Discovery. As a core part of Sony’s strategy is its commitment to deliver fully interoperable solutions that are ready to implement today. Sony will also now offer new 12G-SDI interfaces to provide greater choice to its customers.
The XVS-9000 offers flexibility and operability when handling live 4K video sources featuring a larger capacity processer with evolved signal processing technology. It also inherits the functionality and operability well received across current XVS series, including the well-known operation through the ICP-X7000 Panel of a modular style design, with OLED display.
Up to four newly developed 4K/HD DME boards can be installed into one XVS-9000 switcher, enabling to configure maximum 4ch of 4K 3D DME for 4K live production with a variety of video effects.
The new 4K/HD DME boards are compatible across the XVS series, 2ch of 4K DME can be configured in the current XVS-8000.
Inheriting from the XVS Series, the XVS-9000 will have resource sharing functionality where users can allocate the resources of one single processor unit, such as inputs/outputs and mix-effect, to several program productions simultaneously. It is like having several switchers virtually, enabling the configuration of a scalable and flexible system depending on production schedule and all being operated by a single switcher.
“The need for 4K production is increasing across the globe” commented Norbert Paquet, Head of Product Management Europe, Media Solutions, Sony Professional Europe. “We are committed to enabling our customers to build brands and audiences through engaging content, and XVS-9000 will join a strong portfolio of solutions to meet the needs of 4K production and IP live transmission with choice of latest interface.”
The XVS-9000 is planned to be available in October 2018.
