SKY Perfect JSAT Corporation chooses Sony for 4K Broadcast IP Routing System

Sony Business Solutions (Japan) has been chosen by SKY Perfect JSAT Corporation to deliver an industry-leading 4K broadcast IP routing system to help them further enhance their 4K broadcasting.

The system uses IP transmission to output and monitor 4K broadcast video. Incorporating Sony’s HDRC-4000 HDR production converter unit, the system enables integrated 4K and HD operations and leads the way for 4K HDR production in mainstream 4K broadcasting. Delivery to SKY Perfect JSAT was completed in March 2017 and the system has begun working since April.

Strengthening its efforts in embracing leading-edge broadcast technologies and high-quality content, SKY Perfect JSAT continues to make significant contributions to 4K broadcasting. Sony’s IP technology will provide SKY Perfect JSAT with the flexibility to add more video lines and easily change its transmission formats, allowing for quick configuration of highly extensible transmission and monitoring. By using COTS (commercial off-the-shelf) network switches as basic infrastructure, Sony’s IP Live approach allows for configuration of highly functional systems with cost-performance. Systems can easily be extended through addition of more switches; transmission channels can be added, and transmission formats changed, with a simple way to reconfigure the infrastructure itself. Implementation of redundancy is straightforward, allowing for immediate switchover to backup components in the event of a system failure, without interruption of video transmission.
