Maynooth University future-proofs with laser projectors and BRAVIA displays
Maynooth University in the Republic of Ireland has updated its AV facilities with Sony’s reliable, energy-efficient laser projectors and BRAVIA Professional Displays. The result: high quality images across campus while driving down running costs.
Exceeding student expectations
With over 11,000 students and 800 staff, Maynooth University in the Republic of Ireland is internationally recognised for the quality of its research and scholarship.
Located 25km from Dublin, the university needed a high-quality AV solution to enhance teaching and deliver against ever-increasing student expectations. What’s more, reliability and minimal maintenance were major considerations to cut costs and reduce disruption of valuable lecture time.
Partnering with Sony via AV integrator Image Supply Systems Ltd., Maynooth University has installed 45 VPL-FHZ55 laser projectors and two VPL-FHZ57 laser projectors. Delivering bright, detail-packed WUXGA images, the projectors offer the extra benefit of near-zero maintenance thanks to their reliable, long-lasting Z-Phosphor laser light source.
They’re complemented by 31 energy-efficient BRAVIA Professional Displays in 60” and 48” screen sizes. These slim, stylish displays deliver high-impact Full HD images to enhance presentations in classrooms and meeting spaces around the campus. Easy screen mirroring makes learning more interactive, allowing teachers and students to share content wirelessly via smartphones or tablets.
Much of the new equipment is sited in the university’s Eolas Building that’s home to technical, research and computer science departments. Further projectors and displays have been installed in teaching spaces and meeting rooms across the campus.
Better looking pictures, lower running costs
Installing Sony projectors and BRAVIA displays has dramatically reduced maintenance demands on the university’s AV team. As well as superb picture quality, the laser projectors and professional displays offer a range of energy-saving features that have driven down total ownership costs.
“Sony has proved to be reliable and flexible, offering excellent quality solutions to improve our teaching venues” comments Andrew Moloney, Campus Services at Maynooth University. “We also wanted the projectors and displays to produce a solid image with good colour rendition – and they haven’t disappointed at all. Sony’s reliable track record and customer service shone through: they’ve provided an excellent, flexible service.
“We’ve achieved long-term cost savings as well as a great user experience for both of our students as well as the teachers” Andrew concludes. “We look forward to seeing how we can further develop our technological capabilities in the future.”
