The all-new HDC Series benefits from latest imaging innovations including the world’s first 4K CMOS sensor with global shutter technology – elevating clarity, colour, sensitivity and dynamic range to new heights. Compatibility with other Sony system components including camera control units, viewfinders and large lens adaptors unlocks more long-term value from existing hardware inventories. Familiar, intuitive operation cuts the need for costly re-skilling. And for even greater creative flexibility there’s a choice of optional software licenses, making it easy to add further functionality like High Frame Rate (HFR) capture in line with your evolving production needs.
Setting a new benchmark for imaging performance and operational flexibility, the HDC-5500 can output 4K signals directly without requiring a baseband processor unit, saving rack space in the confines of an OB vehicle or studio. It can also output 4K via 12G-SDI. Our advanced 2/3-inch 4K CMOS sensor with global shutter technology delivers spectacular images with exceptionally low noise and impressive sensitivity (F10 at 1080/59.94p or F11 at 1080/50p) while achieving the BT.2020 wide colour space. The HDC-5500 can also capture High Dynamic Range images, supporting Sony’s SR Live workflow for simultaneous HDR/SDR production.
The HDC-3500 offers production teams exceptional creative flexibility in a compact, highly cost-effective package. Sharing the same 2/3-inch 4K CMOS sensor with global shutter technology found in the flagship HDC-5500, the HDC-3500 supports fibre transmission as standard. To satisfy the varying requirements of modern live production, Sony offers exchangeable outside panels – the HKC-FB30 (for fibre transmission) and HKC-TR37 (for triax transmission) – while the HDC-3500H does not have a transmission function.
Light, compact and beautifully balanced, the HDC-3100 captures pristine Full HD images with low noise and high sensitivity. Generous creative options help achieve the look you want in any shooting situation. Optical fibre transmission is offered as standard, with an SMPTE-standard interface for connection with associated HDCU series camera control units.
The HDC-3170 supports latest third-generation digital triax-based transmission system that carries signals over distances up to 1800 m while integrating smoothly into current triax infrastructures. It shares the same 2/3-inch HD CMOS sensor with global shutter technology featured in the HDC-3100 – together with the same creative features and operator-friendly ergonomics to suit modern production environments.
Capture the dynamic excitement of live sports in 4K ultra slo-mo. Teamed with the BPU-4800 Baseband Processor, the HDC-4800 shoots full-resolution 4K Ultra HD images at up to 400P (8x) or Full HD at 800P (16x) to reveal split-second action. This all-in-one solution for UHFR recording and playback allows production teams to deliver ultra slo-mo coverage of sports and other live events, while enjoying streamlined live operational workflow and familiar ergonomics.

Optional upgrades add spectacular 4K 2x and HD 8x super slow motion and 4K capture.
This light, compact point of view (POV) camera offers exciting options for acquiring spectacular HD, 4K, HDR and super-slow motion content. Used alone or as part of a multi-camera shoot, the HDC-P50 can be crane-mounted, handheld, used as a fixed position camera or in combination with a stabiliser for aerial footage. It’s compatible with other HDC system components including viewfinders, large lens adaptors, remote control panels and camera control units.
