Printing medical images usually requires a USB cable joining the printer to a surgical endoscope, ultrasound system or other imaging modality. But now there’s a valuable alternative that offers some welcome extra benefits for clinical staff.
Ideal for busy healthcare environments, the UPA-WU10 wireless printing solution is like an ‘invisible USB cable’, allowing fuss-free connection of compatible Sony medical printers to hospital imaging modalities.
In today’s Operating Rooms, it’s a useful alternative to wired connections from printers to a nearby endoscopic cart. Removing the printer from the immediate vicinity of the imaging modality cuts extra mechanical noise, helping surgeons and theatre staff concentrate on the task at hand. What’s more it can boost theatre hygiene, protecting your printer from the risks of accidental contamination when it’s sited close to the OR table.
Wireless printing is an equally attractive option in examination rooms, where space can be tight on wheeled ultrasound carts. Locating the printer ‘off cart’ allows it to be powered from a nearby wall outlet, rather than relying on the cart’s own supply. And by replacing a long USB printing cable with a wireless connection, clinical staff can move around freely, performing routine tasks efficiently without looking out for nearby cables.
The plug-and-play system is quick and easy to set-up*, with no need for Wi-Fi routers or complicated software installation. The wireless transmitter searches for nearby receivers, connecting devices automatically over a 10m range using low-power UWB (Ultra Wide Band) wireless technology. And it’s reassuringly stable, so you don’t have to worry about dropped connections: links between devices are automatically re-established if contact is temporarily lost.
It effortlessly handles connection to up to three printers in the same room, with interference-free transmission between multiple transmitter/receiver pairs – though you’ll need a separate UPA-WU10 per printer.
