Basingstoke, UK, November 17th, 2020: TV2000, the well-known Italian-based broadcast network, distributing Roman Catholic-themed programming, has selected Sony and Allyn to support the upgrade of their facility, being ready for new formats as well as for remote production.
To build a futureproof system, TV2000 worked very closely with Sony’s system integrator partner Allyn, in order to define the best approach to migrate their production infrastructure to next generation IP and UHD format. From the beginning of the project Sony, Allyn and Imagine Communications worked to reach the best possible integration between production and infrastructure components, with the aim of designing an advanced platform capable of converging traditional broadcast requirements with optimized resources sharing and enhanced remote operations.
“We have a long-standing relationship with Sony, who deliver the right balance of expertise and creativity to meet the evolving needs of our operations. This latest project provides a cutting-edge solution in-line with the vision for our business growth.”, comments Mr. Massimo Porfiri, Managing Director at TV2000.
“During our technology selection process, with my engineering team, we looked before anything for integration flexibility of the components so as to enable a seamless installation process and to offer support for both current and future production requirements” comments Mr. Fulvio Gallo, CTO at TV2000.
As part of the solution, TV2000 selected Sony’s next generation System Cameras HDC-3500, Vision Mixer XVS-6000 and IP Live System Manager, that combines highest quality, capable of native UHD and HDR workflow, with extended features such as remote diagnostic and upgrades.
“With the help of Sony’s expertise, acquired through delivering over One Hundred projects across the world, we worked closely to build a system based on open standards” explains Maurizio Maroli, CEO at Allyn. “From the Network Architecture down to the 3rd party integration & interoperability, Sony helped with a consultative approach to ensure the project could be delivered on time, on budget, and fulfill today’s but also tomorrow’s requirements like, of course, remote production”
Eleven Sony HDC-3500 System cameras and two Sony XVS-6000 Vision Mixers have been installed across the two network studios. The network, tally & device management is provided by Sony’s IP Live System Manager, an Open Standard based broadcast controller, supporting the latest standards such as NMOS IS-04 and IS-05, for interoperability and integration with Imagine Communications’ Magellan SDN Orchestrator (SDNO) ― a field-proven software control layer for hybrid IP workflows ― and any 3rd vendors systems.
Its control & monitoring functions enable smooth set up so that IP Live operations are as simple & integrated as the SDI operations.
Hiroshi Kajita, Head of Media Solutions at Sony Professional Solutions Europe, adds:
“Together with TV2000, we promptly achieved a common vision that goes beyond the normal relationship between customer and supplier. In doing so, we established a real partnership that has allowed us to put in place an efficient engagement for this common goal but also setting a template for future collaboration.
