Sony’s BVM-X300 won Engineering Excellence at the 10th Hollywood Post Alliance Awards

Asia Pacific, 20 November 2015: Sony’s 30-inch 4K TRIMASTER EL™ OLED reference monitor, BVM-X300, has received the acclaimed Engineering Excellence Award at the Hollywood Post Alliance (HPA) Awards, held on the 12 November 2015 at the Los Angeles’ Skirball Cultural Center.

The BVM-X300 offers DCI-standard 4K (4,096 x 2,160 pixels) and Ultra HD (3,840 x 2,160 pixels) picture resolution for reference monitoring of high-end Cinema and TV applications. Sony’s unique Super Top Emission OLED technology provides users with a huge contrast ratio and wide colours reproduction close to the ITU-R BT. 2020 colour space standard. In addition, the BVM-X300 provides High Dynamic Range mode. This offers never-seen-before image reproduction – the black is black, and peak brightness can be reproduced more realistically with colours that are typically saturated in a conventional standard dynamic range. This mode can brilliantly express sparkling town lights and stars in the night sky.

A partner of the Society of Motion Pictures and Television Engineers, the HPA is a trade association that serves the professional community in areas involving production, post-production, distribution, and archiving of media content.

A total of five recipients were presented with the award during the gala ceremony. Sponsored by National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Show, the Engineering Excellence award was created to highlight and reward companies and individuals for their exceptional technical and creative ingenuity in the professional media content industry.

The HPA Awards foster awareness and acknowledge the contributions to the professional media content industry. Apart from Engineering Excellence, the HPA also recognized outstanding achievements for 12 different categories including editing, sound, visual effects, color grading, among others.
