“We’re thrilled to give attendees at ISE the opportunity to experience our next-generation Edge Analytics Appliance, view our new projectors and get hands-on with our smart-building innovations” said Lawrence Tang, Head of Business & Industrial Solutions Marketing Division, Professional Solutions Company (PSAP), Sony Electronics Asia Pacific. “ISE offers the chance for us to collaborate with our AV partners and share knowledge to define the future of work and education together.”
Limitless immersion for business and entertainment: Crystal LED display system
Sony’s largest-ever Crystal LED display system to be showcased in Europe will take centre stage this year. Its awe-inspiring 8K x 4K bezel-less screen, unique scalability, precise colour reproduction and outstanding picture quality achieved by the over a million-to-one contrast ratio delivers ultra-realistic content on any scale from a 180-degree viewing angle.
The Crystal LED display system offers the ultimate solution for automotive design, retail, corporate lobbies, showrooms and entertainment environments like theme parks, gaming/e-sports and cinemas.
Enhance and create engaging video content: Edge Analytics Appliance, REA-C1000
Launching at ISE 2019 is Sony’s next-generation AI-based Edge Analytics Appliance, REA-C1000, which is set to revolutionise corporate and education presentations. The new REA-C1000 uses machine-learning AI technology and is capable of automatically analysing and understanding video content in real time, to improve the quality of visual content and enhance audience understanding. Whether used in presentations, meetings, lectures or seminars, the Edge Analytics Appliance will drive a better connection between public speakers and audiences, giving presenters the power to reach every audience member in any environment, however remote.
The REA-C1000 has a number of functions designed to boost the presence of a presenter in any situation. Its unique Handwriting Extraction technology extracts and enhances text written by a presenter on a black/white board, meaning written characters can be recognised, and on a separate display can then be overlaid onto the presenter in real-time. This enables audience members to be always in-step with the presenter’s thinking process by seeing the gestures and expressions, and never left behind – even when at the back of a large auditorium, or joining a presentation remotely.
With bespoke engineering developed over a number of years by Sony’s image recognition specialists, the Edge Analytics Appliance has been designed to work in conjunction with both Sony’s cameras such as PTZ cameras and XDCAM camcorders and other inputs including desktop or laptop devices by simple HDMI connection.
Other features of REA-C1000 include:
- Chroma key-less CG overlay
- PTZ Auto Tracking
- Focus Area Cropping
- Close-up by Gesture
Visitors to the Sony stand at 1-N20 will be able to experience a live demonstration of the Edge Analytics solution.

The latest improvements to the TEOS family include:

Sony’s TEOS solutions have already transformed workspaces at organisations such as Siemens, Suzuki, HL Tech and many more. With new, powerful controls including voice and sensor, the TEOS portfolio has evolved to empower total workspace collaboration and management for smarter working.

Creating closer collaboration in learning: Vision Exchange
Sony will be unveiling the latest enhancements to its flagship interactive presentation and active learning solution, Vision Exchange 1.2, in the form of UX/UI improvements, system expansions and greater BYOD (Bring Your Own Devices) support. Vision Exchange has been designed to empower new levels of collaboration and active-learning, and visitors to the stand can see first-hand through university-style demonstrations how it can enhance the teaching and learning environment in different education scenarios.
Flexible, scalable and cost-effective networked content capture solution: Miris Netcapture
Sony and lecture capture solution provider UbiCast announce the launch of Miris Netcapture, the new network-based lecture capture solution which seamlessly integrates with Vision Exchange to create more engaging and interactive video content for learning. While Vision Exchange shares and annotates content from laptops, smartphones or tablet devices to the front of a classroom, Miris Netcapture records the streamed content from Vision Exchange and transfers it to UbiCast’s MediaServer video platform for editing, managing and distributing the video content through a video player dedicated to social learning.
This integration also removes the need for each room to be equipped with their own recording device. Instead, Miris Netcapture will simply be permanently located in the server room and dynamically capture the required classroom. Miris Netcapture also offers a highly flexible and future-proof solution; not only able to capture a recording presentation that teachers are delivering, but also video themselves delivering the lesson, as well as video student’s questions and reactions – all simultaneously.
Virtual Production preview with Sony’s XDCAM Pocket and PowerPoint
Sony has been listening to its customers and after the successful launch of Virtual Production, the on-demand cloud production service, the solution will come with new additional features, first time shown at ISE 2019. To meet the live stream demands of corporate and university events, Virtual Production will become compatible with Sony’s XDCAM Pocket mobile app. The app turns your phone into a cloud-ready XDCAM camcorder and allows Corporate and Education professionals to stream their high-quality content to social media or a website straight from their mobile phones.
Another feature extremely important for Corporate and University clients is the availability to use PowerPoint as an additional material source during live streaming of their events. Virtual Production will allow professionals to switch from the streaming inputs to a PowerPoint presentation for higher quality experience of the viewers. With this professional Live Stream solution, users can switch up to six camera feeds, and also add graphics, logos and captions.
Visitors will also hear how Sony has helped higher education institutions including the University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD), University of Bolton and University of Swansea, to realise the potential technology enhanced learning using Vision Exchange, TEOS and UbiCast solutions.
