New Era at Vietnamese Women Newspaper
Vietnamese Women Newspaper, Vietnam
The Vietnamese women market is a growing niche. Over 40% of Vietnamese women are in the 15 to 39 age group, and this has helped attract many renowned global brands to the country. This powerful demographic group is also pushing the boundaries economically and socially.
For over 70 years, the Vietnamese Women Newspaper has been the voice of Vietnamese women. Established in 1948 by the Vietnamese Women’s Union primarily to promote the policies of the Vietnamese Communist Party, the newspaper has grown through the years in terms of its content and coverage.
Its publications are Báo Phụ nữ Việt Nam, Thế giới Phụ nữ, Hạnh phúc gia đình, Phụ nữ Việt Nam (on Ethnic and Mountainous topics), Women of Vietnam Review (English). Online versions include: www.phunuvietnam.vn, www.pnvnnuocngoai.vn (for Vietnamese women living overseas) as well as a dedicated mobile version http://eva.phunuvietnam.com.vn
The publications have a combined readership profile of over 10 million people in Vietnam and across the world.
To further enhance its reach, the newspaper has also started its very own YouTube channel and is now aiming to develop a multimedia communication center for the Central Vietnam Women’s Union.
As part of this ambitious project, it has acquired a wide range of broadcast equipment for its reporters to compile high quality video content.
Says Hoang Dinh Linh, Deputy Editor-in-Chief, Vietnamese Women Newspaper: “Just as Vietnam is transforming, our newspaper too has to keep pace with the country and our readers. We are investing in new technology to take us to the next level in media coverage.”
Vietnamese Women Newspaper invested in two units of the PXW-X400 XDCAM camcorder and the FS5M2K Super35 handheld camcorder by Sony. Both are highly-rated professional camcorders that were specially selected to cater to the newspaper group’s evolving needs.
Featuring three 2/3-inch type Exmor™ CMOS sensors, Sony’s PXW-400 shoots in Full HD as well as 4K. It also offers improved network connectivity with built-in wireless module, and Near Field Communication (NFC) function for easy Wi-Fi setup and operation via a mobile or tablet with Sony’s Content Browser Mobile™ application.
Sony’s FS5M2K is a Super35 handheld camcorder that scores highly for its excellent High Frame Rate.
Adds Hoang: “Field work can be very demanding especially with Vietnam’s tropical conditions. The two camcorders were selected because of their excellent reviews and feedback from our team. With Sony on our side, we are confident of delivering quality content we can all be proud of.”
