A new vision for interactive learning
Founded in 2001, Seoul-based Cyber University of Korea (CUK) is a prestigious higher education establishment accredited by the Korean Ministry of Education. The country’s first cyber university offers a wide range of degree programmes, and has been a front-runner in the use of High Definition video to enrich student teaching and learning. CUK required a solution for capturing large quantities of lecture content as high-quality video for undergraduate and degree course students. In addition, the university needed an effective, easy-to-manage content creation solution that did not require the dedicated services of a large full-time video production team.
Every detail seen clearly
Lectures at CUK are captured using four Sony BRC-H800 robotic PTZ cameras that are permanently installed on the side walls of the auditorium. The camera’s large 1.0-type sensor captures finely detailed Full HD video with extremely low image noise, significantly exceeding the quality of CUK’s previous video capture solution.
Easy operation with lower operating costs
The RM-IP500 PTZ Camera Remote Controller allows joystick control of the four room cameras by a single operator. This affords CUK significant savings in labour costs, removing the need for a dedicated production crew to capture video content during all lectures. Video signals from room cameras and other live sources are mixed using the MCX-500 Multi-camera Live Producer. This highly portable, easy-to-use all-in-one production solution combines broadcast-quality video switching functions with professional transition effects, support for on-screen graphics and an in-built audio mixer.
Impressive big-screen presentations
Full HD video content from room cameras, lecturers’ PC presentations, websites and other sources is shown to students in the main lecture theatre using a pair of ceiling-mounted VPL-FHZ700 3LCD laser projectors. Images from each projector are seamlessly edge-blended to create an extremely large, high-brightness image with superb clarity, colour and contrast that allows more immersive teaching and learning. With a powerful light output of 7,000 lumens colour brightness, the VPL-FHZ700 features a reliable laser light source that allows up to 20,000 hours of effectively maintenance-free operation.
