Sony wins Telemadrid tender to install Sonaps, the new network audiovisual content development system

Madrid, October 21, 2014: Telemadrid, Madrid’s regional TV channel, is to install Sonaps, Sony’s new network production system. Sonaps is an end-to-end environment that integrates planning, acquisition, editing, playout, distribution and audiovisual content archiving into a seamless, file-based workflow across all platforms.

Telemadrid was the first regional broadcaster to adopt a networked environment. Telemadrid put the service out to tender having previously used Sony’s NewsBase system continuously for 15 years, and recently selected Sonaps system as the successful replacement solution. The Sonaps configuration has been designed in response to Telemadrid’s specific client requirements, with workflows and integration with legacy systems proposed on a bespoke basis.

Sonaps responds perfectly to the workflows required by Telemadrid’s technical specifications, and integrates with other systems such as ORAD’s character generators and the INVENIO archive system. Its innovative ability to handle metadata and to quickly manage creative content, along with its open interface, earmarked Sonaps as the ideal environment for Telemadrid.

Sonaps enables broadcasters to benefit from the implementation of digital technology, drastically improving the speed, quality and creativity of audiovisual content, while also reducing operating costs. In addition, the entire system is designed with open standard software and uses standardised hardware. Sony is due to install Sonaps for Telemadrid over the coming months.
