Overview

The flexible and lightweight new HD model is ideal for studio, faith and rental applications, and sports production. The HDC-P31 can be mounted in hard to access locations or used on a crane, rail or robotics system. It incorporates a global shutter three 2/3-inch CMOS sensor system for enhanced optical performance that provides high sensitivity and low noise. In addition, the camera is designed to be used as an integral part of Sony’s HDC series ecosystem creating the same stunning images, while ensuring the consistent workflow with employing a POV form factor.

Enhanced remote features

Remote access via WEB UI(*1) enables menu setting, status monitoring, log files and firmware updates of the camera, when installed in hard-to-access sites. The back focus of the supported lens(*2) can be adjusted remotely from the Sony master setup unit (MSU) or remote control panel (RCP) and IP tally supports flexible and longer connection via network cable. These features help to achieve more efficient workflow.

New standard for Premium HD

Utilizing Sony’s state-of-the-art imaging technology, HDC-P31 delivers superb HD images with exceptional high sensitivity of F12/F13(*3) and impressive low noise of 62dB. Adopting same CMOS technologies, the camera can ensure consistent picture quality, system and workflow with Sony’s HDC series of system cameras. With its compact and lightweight design, the HDC-P31 further expands the applications such as in studio, events, faith as well as hard-to-access shootings on crane, rail or dolly.

Ready for HDR workflows

HDC-P31 supports HDR by S-Log3 / HLG and Sony’s SR Live workflow, allowing simultaneous production in HDR and SDR. The camera also supports SR Live metadata, which is embedded in the SDI signal feed to maintain the quality of both HDR and SDR signals.
The HDC-P31 is designed to meet the increasing demands of HDR production, across the globe.

Features

Highly sensitive three 2/3-inch global shutter CMOSs

HDC-P31 offers premium pictures with the latest 2/3-inch CMOS sensor with global shutter technology that eliminates the ‘jello effect’ and banding noise. The latest imager and signal processor allow the camera to capture pristine images with low noise (62dB) and excellent sensitivity (F12 at 1080/59.94p, 720/59.94p, F13 at 1080/50p, 720/50p).

ARIA: Automatic Restoration of Illumination Attenuation

F drop and peripheral light loss are unwanted physical phenomena especially in long-distance object shooting. Thanks to the newly developed ARIA function of HDC series, the impact on picture appearance is automatically compensated for by processing inside the camera for the supported lens*.

Quick setting from Web UI

The HDC-P31 supports Web Access for the setting changes, status monitoring and firmware upgrades, via network. The camera configuration can be changed, on site, without removing the camera from its position in potentially hard-to-reach locations.

RBF: Remote Back Focus

The back focus of the supported lens* can be adjusted remotely from the Sony master setup unit (MSU) or remote control panel (RCP). This helps back focus check and adjustment and shortens preparation time during production.

HDR/SDR simultaneous production (SR Live)

HDC-P31 is designed following Sony’s market leading SR Live workflow. The SDI OUT 1/2 can output the HDR & SDR simultaneously and they are linked with SDR gain. It does not need to care parallel adjustment.

SR Live Metadata

HDC-P31 also supports SR Live metadata. It is embedded in the SDI signal feed and enables to maintain the quality of both HDR and SDR signals as defined by camera shaders, throughout the live production pipeline. The HDR parameters can be easily monitored on supported devices such as wave form monitors.

Easy operation via software master control: HZC-CSM10

Software-based master control panel HZC-CSM10 enables comprehensive operation & visualization of HDR workflow. All the HDC cameras are linked via network & quickly respond to the central operation.
