Sony Electronics Adds 55-inch 4K 2D Surgical Monitor, LMD-XH550MD, to its Flagship Line Up of Medical Displays
Medical Grade Monitor Combines High Peak Brightness, High Contrast Ratio and Wide Color Gamut
Sony Electronics’ new 4K Ultra HD LMD-XH550MD is a 2D, 55-inch surgical monitor featuring advanced technologies including HDR (High Dynamic Range), as well as high peak brightness, high contrast ratio, and a wide color gamut. The LMD-XH550MD is suitable for use in hospital operating rooms, surgical centers, and classrooms for training and education.
Superb Picture Quality
The LMD-XH550MD is equipped with high quality, 4K resolution (3840 x 2160 pixels), a large 55-inch screen, and uses Sony’s Local Dimming Panel Technology that allows the monitor to achieve a peak brightness of more than 1,5000 cd/m2 and contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1. The LMD-XH550MD is HDR capable when receiving the HLG (Hybrid Log-Gamma) signals, allowing the monitor to reproduce images more realistically and in greater detail, as well as capture the highlights and dark areas, providing surgeons with exceptional clarity of surgical procedures.
The new model’s advanced LCD panel and signal processing technology support a wide color gamut (which conforms to the ITU-R recommendation BT.2020) and allows for accurate color reproduction and realistic visualization. The LMD-XH550MD is also designed to minimize reflective glare even in brightly lit ORs, providing clear, high-contrast images.
Advanced Features
The LMD-XH550MD uses Sony’s unique A.I.M.E.TM (Advanced Image Multiple Enhancer) technology that allows the surgical team to enhance the display image by adjusting the color, contrast, and visibility of shadow areas when required during a procedure. The new monitor has a clone-output connector feature that clones the image on display to a secondary display or external recorders, even with advanced settings like A.I.M.E. or PIP (Picture-in-picture). The resolution of the output image can be selected between 4K or HD which can be up or downscaled at the user’s choice to adapt to the capability of the secondary display or recorder. There is also the choice of connecting a remote control such as a footswitch via stereo mini, permitting hands free menu switching.
Easy Installation and Use
The LMD-XH550MD features a smooth surface and streamlined back design for users to easily wipe liquid and gels off the LCD panel, control buttons, and the rear cover. Additionally, all connectors face downwards to ensure organized and seamless cable connection for easy OR integration.
“High quality visualization in the OR is of utmost importance for surgeons and clinical staff during a procedure,” said Julie Holodak, Senior Director of Healthcare Solutions, Sony Electronics. “This is why we’ve added the new LMD-XH550MD 4K 2D monitor to our flagship display line up. It offers an excellent visual experience that aids surgeons, improves OR workflow, and can help contribute to better patient outcomes.”
The LMD-XH550MD is planned to be available in October 2023. For more information on products and solutions from Sony Electronics’ Healthcare Solutions, please visit https://pro.sony/healthcare.
