Facing the challenges of long-distance production
The GuangXi Cloud is a converged media platform belonging to GuangXi Daily. They faced a long-term requirement to produce a large number of on-site video reports, based in different locations around China. With the impact of Covid-19 and widespread travel restrictions, however, it was not practical for an interviewer to travel for every report, especially for some multiple-point interviews. GuangXi Daily thus required a new way to bring interviewers and interviewees “together” in the same virtual environment, despite being based at separate physical locations.
Professional quality virtual interviews made simple
After exploring different options, GuangXi Daily selected Sony’s REA-C1000 Edge Analytics Appliance as the best choice to solve the problem of creating high-quality virtual interviews. The device’s Chromakey-less CG overlay feature allows a virtual green screen image to be created, without requiring any physical equipment or complex set-up. The operator can generate this image remotely, without even requiring to have an Edge Analytics Appliance on-site. Using the RTSP feature of the REA-C1000, an operator can receive this Full HD image stream remotely and upload it to an on-site virtual machine, mixing different input images into one virtual studio via on-site keying.
