Product Recycling

Sony is committed not only to offering products, services, and content that deliver exciting user experiences by inspiring and fulfilling the curiosity of our customers around the world, but continually improving our environmental footprint throughout the lifecycle of our products and services.

Product Stewardship

Responsible manufacturers must consider what happens to their products after use, and product recycling is fundamental to us here at Sony. But designing products for disassembly and recycle is just the start of our post-consumer responsibility. In North America, we work with locally established recycling programs to encourage take-back and recycling of end-of-life products. If you can’t find an event or a drop-off location near you, your product could be eligible for mail-in program. For responsible recycling opportunities, start here.

Curbing Climate Change

Curbing Climate Change

Sony focuses on greenhouse gas emission reduction by featuring environmentally conscious products and services, and incorporating programs in our workplace that save energy and promote renewable energy, and engaging with our supply chain to reduce emissions.

Conserving Resources

Resource conservation is approached through reducing a focus on minimizing use of virgin materials and maximizing use of recycled content. We continually strive to make products lighter, more efficient, and consider opportunities to include recycled material while still maintaining a high-quality product. In the workplace we also focus on resource efficiency and material reuse.

Controlling Chemical Substances

Controlling Chemical Substances

Chemicals are strictly controlled in raw materials and parts through our own chemical substance management standards. Sony classifies chemicals by level of environmental risk with a phase out requirement for particularly hazardous chemicals for both our own operations as well as our suppliers.

Promoting Biodiversity

Natural resources play an integral role in our business activities, and we strive to reduce the impact to the natural environment. Sony also works globally to promote the protection and enhancement of biodiversity.
