Join Sony at ACS to See the Latest Innovations in Surgical Imaging and Workflow

Discover New Medical Technology Supporting 4K/3D, 4K, IP and Content Management

Sony Electronics’ Healthcare Solutions will be at the American College of Surgeons’ Clinical Congress, Oct. 21-25 in Boston showcasing the latest products and solutions for surgery in booth 711.  With a focus on enhancing surgery and immersive education, Sony will demonstrate end-to-end solutions from capture and visualization to managing, sharing, storing and distributing assets.

New to the show will be NUCLeUS, an integrated IP-based digital operating room platform, as well as prototypes of Sony’s new cost-effective 27” 4K monitors launching in 2019.  Also on display will be Sony’s 4K and 4K/3D monitor lineup, including 31” and 55” options, as well as an HD-3D recorder and 4K/3D recorder.  Explore Sony’s Content Management System (CMS), which offers a centralized platform for simple and secure recording, archiving, organizing, sharing and distributing medical assets.

Highlights of the booth at ACS include:

    Integrated Digital Operating Room Platform

    • NUCLeUS is an open, scalable and vendor-neutral video-over-IP platform that transforms surgical workflow efficiencies for networked hospital environments with the simplicity of a LAN-based connection. It also features 3 significant Smart App Tools: Telestration Tool allows you to annotate video streams remotely and share these annotations in real-time with the OR; Vascularization App gives you a clear and highlighted view of vascular structures; and the Stabilization App that compensates for shifts in the orientation of video from handheld endoscopic camera systems. NUCLeUS connects devices, applications and data transparently for real-time informed decisions and complements Sony’s CMS through planning, recording and sharing of video images and other patient-related data in the Operating Room, across the hospital and beyond.

    4K Monitors

    • New 27-inch 4K medical monitors will be shown as works-in-progress. These models offer increased resolution for detailed monitoring and provide another option in Sony’s lineup of 4K displays, which already includes the 55-inch LMD-X550MD and 31-inch LMD-X310MD.  4K monitors allow surgeons and medical teams to view high-resolution images from endoscopes and surgical microscopes while surgery is in progress. The 4K imagery provides increased visualization during and after a surgical procedure, up-scales HD images to 4K and can also be helpful for training and education.

    4K/3D medical displays

    • 55-inch and 31-inch 4K/3D medical monitors, LMD-X550MT and LMD-X310MT, are designed for use with surgical robotic systems, microscopes and 3D endoscopes in operating rooms, as well as medical facilities for training and education. The monitors can display 2D and 3D content in 4K and can upscale HD to 4K. The monitors combine increased resolution and enhanced depth perception.

    Medical 4K/3D recorder

    • HVO-4000MT records 4K and 3D, and supports HD video and stills simultaneously. The recorder captures long-form video from 4K cameras focused on the operating field and allows for easy sharing of surgical video. The recorder has a 4TB internal hard drive and can connect to a network, so images can be uploaded and viewed by other medical personnel outside of the operating room.

    Medical 3D HD recorder

    • HVO-3300MT 2D/3D HD video recorder supports simultaneous recording to media and is equipped with network functionality for recording to servers. It allows clinicians to capture high-quality 3D or 2D images acquired with 3D/2D endoscopic camera systems, surgical microscopes, and other compatible medical imaging systems in Full HD.

    Content Management System (CMS)

    • Sony’s CMS is a simple, secure and comprehensive way to manage surgical videos and stills. It allows for network-based searching, editing, storage and distribution of 4K, 3D, and HD video obtained from Sony medical recorders and other compatible recording devices. Watch recordings from PCs or iPads, and even stream live surgical procedures, allowing a near real-time view into the OR for staff and residents.
