Open standards for Networked Live
Sony is committed to delivering solutions for IP-based live production solution that realize the workflow flexibility, assurance and multi-vendor interoperability of open standards. Many of our broadcast systems, including system cameras, switchers, IP gateways and other components, are IP ready and compliant with the SMPTE ST 2110 family of standards. We also support the AMWA NMOS (Networked Media Open Specification) suite of standards for the management and orchestration of IP-based media infrastructures.
Sony continues to contribute to SMPTE and, as a principal member of AMWA, will continue to play a central role in developing the NMOS specifications.
The development of the NMOS testing tool used in the JT-NM Tested Program is still primarily implemented by Sony.
Within the JT-NM Tested Program, the RDS (Registration & Discovery System) implemented by Sony is adopted as the reference.
Sony’s IP converter board NXLK-IP50Y participated in the JT-NM Tested Program in 2022, and compliance with ST2110/NMOS was confirmed. Sony’s IP products, including the NXLK-IP50Y, are developed by sharing the common ST 2110/NMOS implementation for Sony’s ST2110/NMOS compatible products.
Sony, which conducts everything from specification formulation to testing and function implementation, is developing products to quickly support ST2110/NMOS with a wide range of product line-up.
Sony has established a verification system via its own testing facility that includes products from a wide range of third vendors and IP switch manufacturers. On top of the existing industry standards and test programs such as JT-NM TR-1001-1: ST 2110, ST 2059, ST 2022-7, NMOS IS-04/05, we will continue to evolve with the latest developments for interoperability.
