ESPN uses VENICE for live broadcasts with more impact

ESPN wanted to bring a ‘filmic’ look to its productions. Working with NEP Netherlands, it installed VENICE cameras during a studio re-build in the MediaArena, Amsterdam. Now, its coverage has stunning depth of field and smoothly blurred backgrounds. “It’s a more cinematic look and feel. That’s what I like, and I like depth in my shots, even in the studio. So we always try to create a lot of depth.” – Henk Van Meerkerk, head of production, ESPN NL

RTS uses Sony’s HDC-F5500 camera to capture on-stage performances at the Montreux Jazz Festival

The Montreux Jazz Festival is one of music’s most celebrated live events and the second largest annual jazz festival in the world. Held on the shoreline of Switzerland’s Lake Geneva, this year’s 56th festival in July 2022 marked the live music debut of Sony’s HDC-F5500 system camera. Realising uniquely immersive images thanks to its sensitive Super 35mm 4K CMOS sensor, the new camera allowed public broadcaster Radio Télévision Suisse (RTS) to capture wide beauty shots as well as tight close-ups of the 2022 artist line-up.

Sony’s HDC-F5500 system camera featured as part of a 4K HDR live production workflow

In a European sports broadcasting first, our HDC-F5500 system camera has starred in a live 4K HDR workflow bringing together BT Sport and EMG UK. Boasting a highly sensitive Super 35mm sensor, the HDC-F5500 was put through its paces in the World Boxing Council heavyweight clash between Tyson Fury and Dillian Whyte at Wembley Stadium.
