Preliminary information
The HDC-2550 multi format HD portable system camera incorporates Sony’s advanced technologies for studio cameras while offering wide-band triax connectivity across a broad choice of acquisition formats, including 1080/50i and 720/50p. Threehigh end 2/3-inch Progressive IT CCDs and Digital Signal Processing (DSP) LSI with 16 bit A/D converter provide amazing picture quality with very little noise and high dynamic range.
Exceptional operational flexibility
The HDC-2550 provides advanced features for more robustness and operational efficiency. Its side panel can be easily replaced to fit third party HD wireless capabilities, while the wide band triax transmission interface can be exchanged for an optional 3G optical fibre interface for extra flexibility. The camera also has the capability to upgrade to true digital triax for 1080/50p and 3D in the future.

Features
High quality CCD, 16-bit A/D-converts and DSP
The CCD and DSP provides incomparable picture quality due to three 2/3-inch type Progressive IT Power HAD FX CCDs and 16bit A/D converter, improved S/N Ratio, better low light and highlights handling. This enables more creative capabilities from variety shows to drama, movies and commercials productions, as well as more realistic rendering of sport events.
Wide band triax interface
The HDC-2550 features a wide band triax interface that enables the camera to be directly connected to a triax infrastructure with no signal delay or compression used.
Broad range of HDTV frame rates
The HDC-2550 offers a broad range of frame rates, including 1080/50i, 1080/59.94i, 720/50p and 720/59.94p. 1080PsF options include 23.98p, 24p, 25p and 29.94p.
Dual optical filters
The HDC-2550 features CC and ND optical filters to enhance creativity.
High reliability and operational efficiency
The HDC-2500 Series has been designed to be exceptionally robust to suit all kinds of Outside Broadcast shooting conditions. Its body uses carbon fibre for less weight and a smaller environmental footprint.
Compatibility with HDC-1500R Series accessories
As the HDC-2550 is fully compatible with HDC-1500R Series cameras, it inherits their very wide choice of peripherals such as viewfinders (HDVF), Remote Control Panels (RCP) and the Sony unique Large Lens Adapters (HDLA) system. The triax transmission system is compatible to that employed by HDC-1550 and HDC-1450, thus enhanced flexibility and inter-changeability with existing equipment is provided.
Optional 3G fibre interface and wireless capabilities
The triax interface is exchangeable with an optional 3G optical fibre interface to increase the camera’s flexibility. The camera’s exchangeable side panel also allows for the installation of third party wireless transmission systems.
