Sony Showcases New Products and Technologies for Ophthalmology at AAO
Interact with New Medical Tools Supporting 4K/3D, 4K, Content Management, HD and HDR for Detailed and Engaging Views and Streamlined Workflows
Sony Electronics’ Healthcare Solutions will be at the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO)’s annual meeting, Oct. 27-30 in Chicago demonstrating the latest products and technologies for ophthalmology in booth 2503. Solutions supporting increased resolution, immersive depth of field and streamlined content management and sharing will be shown, as well as new advances in 4K, 4K/3D, HD and HDR.
New to the show will be a prototype of Sony’s HD HDR camera which is planned to be available later this year. Also on display will be Sony’s 55” 4K/3D monitor and 31” 4K monitor, as well as Sony’s Content Management System (CMS), which offers a centralized platform for simple and secure recording, archiving, organizing, sharing and distributing medical assets.
Highlights of the booth at AAO include:
HD HDR Camera
- The highly sensitive MCC-1000MD is a new 2-piece camera with excellent color reproduction and low noise, which will be shown as a work in progress. The 3-chip HD camera with 59.94/50 fps supports HDR to reduce halation from tools used in vitreoretinal surgery and offers pictures profiles and settings optimized for eye surgery. The camera offers auto exposure, digital zoom, picture profiles and GenLock, as well as 3G-SDI and HDMI in HD and analog composite and S-Video in SD.
4K Monitors
- The 31-inch LMD-X310MD models offer increased resolutions for detailed monitoring. 4K monitors allow surgeons and medical teams to view high-resolution images from endoscopes and surgical microscopes while surgery is in progress. The 4K imagery provides increased visualization during and after a surgical procedure, up-scales HD images to 4K and can also be helpful for training and education.
4K/3D medical displays
- The 55-inch 4K/3D medical monitor, LMD-X550MT is designed for use with surgical robotic systems, microscopes and 3D endoscopes in operating rooms, as well as in medical facilities for training and education. The monitor can display 2D and 3D content in 4K and can upscale HD to 4K, while offering increased resolution and enhanced depth perception.
Content Management System (CMS)
- Sony’s CMS is a simple, secure and comprehensive way to manage surgical videos and stills. It allows for network-based searching, editing, storage and distribution of 4K, 3D, and HD video obtained from Sony medical recorders and other compatible recording devices. Watch recordings from PCs or iPads, and even stream live surgical procedures, allowing a near real-time view into the OR for staff and residents.
